Project Director Appointed

We’re delighted to announce we have appointed Claire Hyne as our Project Director to lead the team who over the next two years will be working with land managers, stakeholders and others to develop a vision and plan for nature recovery on Dartmoor at a landscape scale.

John Dracup, Chair of the Central Dartmoor Farm Cluster, said “whilst we had a great selection of candidates for the post, Claire stood above the others thanks to her diverse background and skill set. This has included working for The National Lottery Heritage Fund on Landscape projects (including Moor Than Meets the Eye), and in more recent years as Founder / Director of the Papillon Dartmoor Distillery. Having someone who has experience in grant administration along with marketing and promotion of local produce brings skills that complement the agricultural and conservation knowledge of the steering group.”

Claire says “I'm delighted to be working as part of the Dartmoor Farm Cluster taking the Landscape Recovery forward. This is a really important opportunity for Dartmoor and I'm excited to be part of this process. Having lived and worked on Dartmoor for most of my life, I feel passionately about the future of Dartmoor for the communities who live here and the people who visit.”

Claire will be starting in early June (to match the formal start of the project’s 2-year Development stage). Over her first month she will be helping recruit our Commons and Farm Conservation Coordinators, meeting our various stakeholders, and working with the Steering Group to set up all the ‘backroom’ systems, processes and other infrastructure we need to make the project run smoothly.
